Scandal! Drama! All this and more in the Gambrinus Liga!
Let’s be honest - there’s not much drama surrounding the Czech National Team. Drama is something reserved for the likes of England with their Svengate scandal and all things Beckham. Even Italy stops to take a day off for Totti’s wedding to his baby-mama. But when it comes to the Czechs, our mates are mostly out of the limelight.
Read on….
Of course we all know that Nedved is a little bit of a diver, but hey, he plays in Italy - he learned it from the best. He also may be a dirty tackler, but off the pitch, he’s an oridinary family man with little drama surrounding him.
And then there’s Petr Cech. The most drama we’ve seen out of him are the risque papasan photos. As to Milan Baros, well the only drama he’s involved in is the type I create about his abs. Tomas Rosicky maybe playing a game of “where do I end up”, but is that drama? Nooooo!
However, lest you think the Czechs are a bunch of bores, I present you with some high drama in the Gambrinus Liga. We’ve reported before about the match fixing scandal and a few litres of wine, but now the world seems to be taking more notice as yahoo is reporting on the story.
And as if that we’re enough drama for one weekend, it has now come out from PragueTV that
Slavia Praha sporting manager Lubomir Pucek has admitted receiving a two-million-crown loan from fugitive billionaire Radovan Krejcir, currently wanted by Czech police for “planning fraud and contriving to commit murder.” Police discovered paperwork relating to the loan last June, following a raid on Krejcir’s Prague home, but it didn’t become
public knowledge until yesterday, after reporters from Ceska Televize learned of the connection. Pucek, a former referee who in May was fined for his part in a match-fixing plot, told the media that he had already repaid the loan. Krejcir is now a citizen of the Seychelles making it unlikely that he’ll ever be extradited to the Czech Republic.
Oh the drama. I’m glad the boys abroad aren’t involved in this so that they can concentrate on the beautiful game in Germany.
