Ok, I can go back to being a Czech fan with reckless abandon now that yesterday’s game is over.

That being said, I have to hand it to our boys (yes, I mean the Czechs this time) - they played a very good game yesterday. As you’ve probably been able to tell, I’ve been a Rosicky fan for a while and he certainly did not disappoint. His two goals were amazing and I was certainly the only US fan cheering when he scored. Hey, they were great goals - too bad they were against the US - and I have to applaud great play.

I’m sad to think that Jan’s World Cup might be over due to injury. He certainly looked dangerous up top.

Nedved has still got it. I’m amazed at the lack of knowledge of world football by American fans, though. All around me, people were asking “Who IS this diver?” Hello! Do you not read WorldCupBlog? He’s only one of the best players in the WORLD! Ever heard of Juventus? If not, are you breathing? Sheesh.

Sadly, no Milan Baros or his abs. I come 5000 miles to see the Czechs play - the least they could do is give me a gratuitious peek at the 8th wonder of the world. I’m just sayin’. (Come on, it’s been MONTHS since I last brought up his abs! Do you know what self-control that takes?!)

I hope to have some pix and video of the Czech fans up in the next day or so. Watch this space.

Great post Dorina! ČEŠI DO TOHO!!! We will prevail!!! (especially if the americans manage to throw group E into total chaos…better go catch the 2nd half…)
FYI–I read somewhere that Koller might be able to play against Italy. PLEASE Koller must play!!!

The Czechs will need to repeat their first performance against Italy.

Forget everything, forget Ghana, forget US, the aim is 3 points that take you through to the next round.

There were chances today, but unfortunately for the Czechs none of them materialised.

The aim against Italy should be persistance, and the Czechs mustnt fall for the dirty game. Let Italy foul and dive as much as they want, as long as the Czechs keep away from it, they shouldn’t get any unecessary cards or give any set pieces.

***Posted by an American fan, but with the sincere intention of trying to get answers.***

Will Baros be healthy for the Italy match?

If Baros is out; plus Koller still isn’t fit; and Lokvenc out on two yellows, then without a designated goalscorer, I think that CZE’s chances are in trouble.

I know, I know: some would say that Nedved, Rosicky, and Poborsky provide ALOT of offense. But they sure didn’t look too effective today.

Plus, Ujfalusi is out on a red card, hurting the CZE defense.

This, at least, gives the US the hope that if it takes care of its business, then it’s got a chance to advance.

From the Czech perspective, are the concerns I raised worrying?

Don’t be disappointment. Now we must be enough ready for next match. We have many good players and we’re strong. We neeed the spirit of hard-bitten, unyielding ,aggressive and calm . Confidence is very important !
I think good beginning is pretty important in a match. We’ll have a good beginning next match !
Good luck ! I’m with you !

I’m no less dissapointed than the Czechs. Tears fell down on my face after the failure. Luck was not on our side yesterday. The next match will be extremely tough, and I really hope miracles can happen.

I think we can do it!! Ghana caught us by surprise with their very strong, brute-force steamroller kind of style. Italy looked sooo beatable yesterday (hell, the Americans nearly beat them) and besides they play in a more familiar style. We must have confidence, calm, and know that Nedved and Rosicky can take on the whole world if they have to, and with Cech between the posts we are safe! COME ON YOU MIGHTY CZECHS!!! Forget Ghana, put it out of your minds, and DEMOLISH Italy!!!

Oh, it seems that Czech players are dissapointed!
Nedved Says:” We Need a miracle”

Hey!! If they loose their hope, then we need more than miracle!

Czech Republic were not disappointing to me, I love this team and will always do. Because they have a lot of amazing players such as Nedved, Koler, Baros, Yankolovsky, (I don’t know if my spelling is right), …..
I agree with you, they will perform better next time, this time, it was only bad luck.
By the way whoever doesn’t know Nedved means he doesn’t know current football because he is ONE OF A KIND.
