BAROS GOES FOR RUN, TRAINS WITH BALL
For the first time since injuring a tendon in his foot, Milan Baros went for a run yesterday around the Lindner Hotel & Sporting Club Wiesensee’s training pitch. In the afternoon, Baros also did some work with the ball, wearing special boots designed to reduce the pain in the arch of his right foot.
“His condition is a little better,” team spokesman Lukas Tucek told reporters. “We’ll see how it develops during the night. [On Tuesday] Milan may try to train with the team.” At the end of Baros’s work-out, both team doctor Petr Krejci and assistant coach Jaroslav Silhavy appeared to be optimistic.
UJFALUSI GETS ONE-GAME BAN, MISSES ITALY GAME
Tomas Ujfalusi has received a standard one-game ban after being sent off in Saturday’s Ghana game, and will miss Thursday’s match against Italy. As expected, FIFA’s disciplinary commission also suspended Vratislav Lokvenc for one game. The Salzburg forward picked up his second yellow card of the tournament on Saturday.
CZECH SQUAD PLAY SPORT ON DAY OFF
The Czech squad had their first full free day of the tournament yesterday, having agreed that they needed time to recharge after the Ghana game. Many players opted for some form of physical activity, however, riding bikes and mountain bikes, playing golf and tennis, and
putting in some extra light training. The Czech base, the Lindner Hotel & Sporting Club Wiesensee, was closed to everyone but guests and golf club members for the day.
CR-ITALY: A DRAW MIGHT BE ENOUGH
The Czech Republic could draw Thursday’s game against Italy and still reach the last 16, but only if Ghana fail to beat the USA, and the USA don’t beat Ghana by at least four goals. To be certain of advancing, however, the Czechs must win in Hamburg.

Well…you guys sure played beautifully against us, and it would be bad sport to wish you ill, so I’ll wish you well (but wish a bit more for Italy so the US have a chance to advance!). ![]()

Good luck boys!! Don’t give Italy any respect - they don’t deserve any.

Well yes; this must be the place then, to rally support for the Czech Boys eh? .. Who’s out there !?!?!? Will we .. or won’t we ? - are Italy solid enough to hold us out of their defence ?
For I pose the Q: are the battle weary Czechs out of “puff” or just getting their second wind ?
