Rosický pulled out of the Czech Rep. NT
At last night’s press conference(note:in the Czech language), Arsenal FC midfielder Tomáš Rosický officially announced his declinature from the Czech Republic national team for European Championship 2008.
The main cause of his declination is his long-lasting hamstring problem which started torturing him since the FA Cup match Arsenal FC - Newcastle United back in January.
The “Little Mozart” has been receiving medical treatment in Prague since March under permission of Arsenal FC’s topsiders, however, he has made a new decision to undergo surgical operation in London, UK next Tuesday, which is likely to get him out of the pitch at least for 2 months and naturally leads to the declination from the EURO2008 squad.
For his replacement, Rosický positively named Jan Polák(RSC Anderlecht), Jaroslav Plašil(CA Osasuna), Marek Matějovský(Reading FC), and David Jarolím(1. FC Nürnberg), adding possibility of the second comeback of Pavel Nedvěd(Juventus Turin) as one of the options left for the trainter Mr. Karel Brückner and the entire Czech squad.
Temporary captaincy will be taken either by ACF Fiorentina defender Tomáš Ujfalsi(ACF Fiorentina) or by Chelsea FC goalkeeper Petr Čech(Chelsea FC).

Salary cap for ČMFS?
Sorry so late on this one; here’s a good story by František Bouc of the Prague Post on the would-be salary cap about to be twisted onto the ČMFS.
An excerpt:
In a move to counter the rising salary demands coming from the league’s players, the Czech Football Association (ČMFS) is considering the introduction of salary caps on the country’s professional ... [read]
Czech Republic-Poland friendly “highlights”
Managed to catch Eurosport’s abbreviated version of Poland v. Czech Republic in Cyprus, for the best, perhaps, given the result.
Roll the highlight clips (such as it was, given the tepid first-half lackadaisicality you’d expect from a game played in lovely Larnaca in February)!
6th minute. A full-capacity crowd of an estimated 600 thrills to see Wojciech Lobodzinski catching the Czech defenders ... [read]
(All-too-brief) Notes on Czech Republic-Poland friendly
On a night of friendlies, our Czech Republic takes on regional compadres Poland, a team on quite a roll after taking top spot in their Euro Cup qualifying group over Finland, Portugal and Serbia.
PUP (or “physically unable to perform”), as they say in that other football tonight for our guys are Martin Jiranek, Tomas Rosicky, Marek Jankulovski and coach Bruckner.

King David surrenders England, moves to conquer Italia
The biggest story this week outta the ‘Republic: defender “King” David Rozehnal. Sneaking in a deal just under the 31 January transfer deadline, S.S. Lazio bagged Rozehnal a mere seven months after joining Newcastle United from Paris Saint-Germain FC.
A little jockspeak from Rozehnal was made retroactively hilarious. Over at SportingLife.com, there’s reportage of a visit made by Diego Maradona to ... [read]
Baros (and Portsmouth) v. Manchester United
The most media attracted by a Czech footballer today? Easy: That’d be Milan Baros, who is widely expected to play tomorrow night for Portsmouth at Manchester United since his transfer from Olympique Lyon was completed on Monday.
